On Broadway, the jokes come thick and fast, and are seldom so rough-edged. The tone is so consistently light that the peril of the hostage crisis fades, evoking more the relaxed vibe of a workplace comedy than a life-or-death standoff. While many of these comedic beats amuse, the cheerful atmosphere undermines narrative suspense, and Moss-Bachrach’s performance does little to bolster it.
